There's a little script out there called gz-site.  All you need to do is
some minor changes (root path, http, etc) upload it via ftp follow the
directions and access it via the web to tar and gzip the file.  You can then
either download it via the link on the page following the compression or you
can go back to the site via ftp and download it then upload it to the new
server untar it and you're good to go.  I used it for clients site's I
didn't have telnet access to and it worked fine.
