Ok, I did all the aliasing and ownership changes after mysql compiled
(finally), but now, I go to run the server and. . . . .
[root mysql-3.23.39]# /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql start
[root mysql-3.23.39]# Starting mysqld daemon with databases from
/home/mysql/data
020408 05:14:22 mysqld ended
There is not a process for the daemon after this. There are test files in
the data directory.
[root /]# mysqld
020408 5:12:38 Can't create interrupt-thread (error 11, errno: 0)
Tried this next.
[root /]# /home/mysql/bin/mysqladmin -u root password
'iputanauthenticpassherewithoutcomments'
/home/mysql/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/home/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/home/mysql/mysql.sock'
exists!
Ok, made a symbolic link (ln -s) and no go on the second try. Any
suggestions?
Grant
