They're all a bit different.  Most common ones are (no particular
order) vi, pico, emacs, and joe.

The most ubiquitous is vi; you probably should be familiar enough
with it to do the basics.  Many people like pico.  I like the
bang for the byte of joe.  Emacs is big, but far more than just
an editor.  And there are plenty more.

Man pages or online docs would be the place to start.  I'd guess
that the easiest to use is pico.
