* You could try a different POP daemon
* You can always manually remove the POP lock files
* There's some program to remove stale POP locks, but I don't
recall the details.
Look in /var/tmp/.pop (IIRC) for lock files.
find / -type d -name ".pop"
to check that I'm not lying about directory.
