Hi Thom,
I'll have a stab at it aswell since nobody thought what I did straight
off.
Check your /var/log/maillog and see if he is actually getting through to
your machine in the first place.
Ssh in and
tail -f /var/log/maillog
Then if you can ask him to try to login and fetch his mail, you might
get a pointer from the log file. For example you might not see any
connection happen, in which case:
1) is he firewalled from your box?
2) is his isp firewalling him?
3) connectivity ok?
Or if you see a connect it should report something like:
Mar 13 16:45:37 host1 in.qpopper[18015]: (v?) POP login by user "fax" at
(xxxx.co.uk) 212.140.xxx.xxx
Showing a valid login.
If in doubt, post the log here.
