Hello Jeff,
JL> If you don't know how to administer a T-1, then you probably shouldn't
JL> have gotten it.
touche! but i need one for personal use, like making a living.
JL> Was it just coincidence that of all the major backbone providers in the
JL> U.S. you chose the one voted most-likely-to-go-out-of-business by all
JL> the major financial consultants <smile>?
actually maybe i know something you don't ever hear of insider
trading?
JL> I presume you mean you had problems with DSL providers; I did as well.
JL> But you didn't need a T-1, a friend of mine does very well trading using
JL> ISDN. Another bought a 64k frame-relay connection.
still they rely upon someone between them and the backbone. i have
fewer hops than anyone i know of to anywhere i know of, for a guy with
a t1 in his house.
JL> I know what you mean. You might be surprised at how many of us
JL> originally went into the ISP business as kids because we so badly wanted
JL> a T-1 coming right into our bedroom <smile>.
goo for you kiddies, i'm a man making money not playing games, and i
was tired of you kiddies going to work for isp's and this is what i
had to deal with that led me to booting all to the curb.
JL> I know someone who fulfilled his dream of becoming an ISP after he lost
JL> 300 times that in a sour business deal. Stuff happens. Deal with it.
likewise with your fishing success.
>> JL> Right now I can't even reach his server.
you should call your isp i guess and ask the kid to check things when
he gets tired of playing his games.
JL> You miss my point. I was wondering why you were down. If you want to
JL> be an ISP you must always be up. Our colocation center has never been
JL> down.
i was down it seemed to you cause i switched ip's. sorry you couldn't
keep up.
JL> Then you've got a lot to learn.
yea well at least i admit it, and am willing to even put up with crap
like yours to learn.
JL> I'm a consultant to small ISPs. Learn to make use of good resources
JL> <smile>. Either here onlist, for small stuff, for free, or to pay
JL> someone for the complex issues that always come up. Know your
JL> limitations. I just decided to hire someone outside my organization for
JL> a complex security issue. Sometimes we have to do that.
good fer u.
JL> We're always looking to partner. When you've got multiple OC-3s,
>>99.99999 uptime, 24/7 secured keycard access, 24/7 live onsite
yea i bet, all that and then get your service from savvis or alter or
some other 5 th rate provider and call your self an isp? what a sham
these isp's are all that equipment and the sorriest of connections.
JL> Of course. Why are you using cable if you've got a T-1? Cable as a
JL> backup for a T-1? I'm not sure I understand.
why don't you understand ? i have posted the problem, i need to mail
out and i can not unless i either allow relay or use another isp to
send mail out.
