[cobalt-users] Mysql domain cockup
- Subject: [cobalt-users] Mysql domain cockup
- From: "fudge" <fudge@xxxxxx>
- Date: Tue Feb 5 11:02:02 2002
- List-id: Mailing list for users to share thoughts on Cobalt products. <cobalt-users.list.cobalt.com>
While tweaking in webmin I changed the mysql domain from localhost to
the servers domain name. It seemed like it might be a good idea at the
time, but obviously it wasn't as I am now locked out. This is on a
remote raq3 if that makes any difference. How can I go about changing
the domain back to localhost, there are no tables in use, so a reinstall
is an option. If I need to reinstall, what should I delete?
Thanks
fudge

They are identical. The Raq2 fan is quite different, though. I just
posted the place that I found them.

We just got some from Web Host Supply "http://www.webhostsupply.com/".
$19.95 each plus shipping. A lot (about $35) for overnight shipping.

You need to have the RPMs for Red Hat Linux 6.2. They should install.
You may be able to find them via ftp at:
ftp://updates.redhat.com/6.2/i386
Give it a try <smile>.

The first one is a 4i, Cobalt part number CBT-R46GJ4GIM and the second
one
is an invalid page
If you really search their site for "Cobalt" you will find other
products
including Raq3's but not of these others are in stock. In other words,
they are old pages. I found 76 items and there appears to be about 4
models that fit the same description. The unavailable models are more
expensive and as stated unavailable. When the model came out it was
about
$2100 and now it is about $1400 or less. Or from the manufacturer
$1750. Dealers have no reason to sell the product if the manufacturer
will
sell to the public at the same price they can sell it for. Thus it
depends
on the markup each vendor is looking to achieve as to their price.
In the retail world, it is not uncommon for the same product to have two
different part numbers as to allow for different items to be sold in
different stores. This way they don't have to do price matching. They
weren't identical, they have different part numbers. It appears that on
the Sun/Cobalt site the sell the "U" model and the Insight site they are
now selling the "M" model.

Now this one is easy, the second part number is the old cobalt one. All
Sun
Cobalt part numbers internally now start with CBT- (you may guess that
stands for Cobalt) the end letter denotes the country, U used to be for
US,
A used to be for Australia, now it is M for US & Australia.
So the product is the same, but the only one that is orderable is the
CBT-R46GJGIM because this is the current code (also a heck of a lot
cheaper)
Hope that helps, I can break down the rest of the code for you if you
wish,
but it seems a bit geeky.

Subject: [cobalt-users] Using SSL on primary site
Reply-To: cobalt-users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hi there.
Several months ago I enabled SSL on our primary site to allow secure
administration. A problem I have been meaning to resolve is the images
on error pages. When connected to the primary site, no problem. However
on all other sites the error page appears without the warning image.
Occasionally a request for acceptance of (self-signed) cert appears - on
accepting the image will pop up.
Is there anyway of resolving this so that images are served without
requiring a secure connection??
It's not of massive importance, as I do use custom error messages for
our main sites, however I would like to fix it!!
Thanks in advance.

You might put the disk in another unix box and edit the /etc/inetd.conf
to start telnet (uncomment). Or maybe while you're at it you might just
check why admserv did not load (maybe check /var/log/* or
/var/log/httpd/adm_error or something) and try to fix it. But I would go
for just making sure telnet will be started from inetd, reboot the
cobalt, telnet, make your changes (the hard part). After that: stop
telnet again and change the admin passwd.
Hope this helps.

Taco,
Does this take care of the "cannot bind to :21" issue? I'm going to
install

7200 rpm will get too hot.
The hard drive can be easily duplicated using Powerquest Drivecopy or
Partition magic on a standard PC.
Or...
I found this the other day, quite interesting!

The issue wasn't resolved after reinstalling php. In my humble opinion
those issues are not related. Still no fix however
