*yawn*
The big question is what you did to break all your boxen. Did
you log every packet or something? Unless you were running a
buggy kernel, I'm trying to think how one could slow down a box
to what you describe.

As for Access... nice for the desktop[*], but I dare you to run a
production website using it. Talk about crapping out. :-P
Not really, check out www.flowersforyou.com a site run fully on an access
DB with cold fusion as the front end on a PII-350 with 512 meg memory...
you just got to know how to optimize windows to get it to work :))
[*] I use it as a front-end to enter info into my Unix DBs via
the MyODBC driver. I can crank out documents in Word faster
than most secretaries. I use MS desktop software, but I
don't try driving a family sedan in a Formula 1 race.

Proprietary or not, one must know what one is doing.
That is not was SUN says about the cobalt boxes.... Gee could there
marketing people be getting worse than microsoft's?, or do they just flat
out LIE....Noway sun LIE to sell product... it's un-heard off .

Something wrong with that? MVCC is yummy. Scales better than
locking.

Yup. I'm surprised that they even bothered porting, instead of
just saying "use CygWin!" Note that they admit that it's a
disaster, and more of a proof-of-concept than production system.
Okay, that's enough troll-feeding for me for now. Time to get
back to cutting code.
