[cobalt-users] Relaying denied / POP before relay

I've searched the archives and have an idea of what is causing my problems
and what I should do to resolve it but I'd like someone who knows what they
are talking about to make sure i'm about to do the right thing...

I host several virtual domains on my RAQ3, with users of each domain using
the RAQ for POP and SMTP. The problem is that email sends fine from one
account on my RAQ to another, but usually not to mail accounts hosted on
other servers (and if it does get sent then it takes a long time to get
there).

Two solutions I know about...

1) Add the client's IP (or IP range) to the relay list via the GUI... yep,
works OK but some of my users log on to the net via different ISPs all the
time so for me to add IPs and IP ranges to this list would be a continuous
and rather tedious task!

2) Install POP before relay on my RAQ3... from what I've already read in the
archives, this is the way to go. Only worries I have is that I have a couple
of users who use the RAQ for SMTP but don't (and can't) use it for POP. This
may sound crazy but believe it or not, there is a semi-rational reason for
this! Will these users still be able to send mail if I add them to the relay
list in the GUI (even if they don't use POP)? Also, most of my users use M$
Outlook as their email client. Outlook appears to try sending mail before
collecting, does this mean users will have to 'send/recieve' twice to get
the POP before relay action?

One last thing (just when u thought I had finished!). I get the following
lines appearing in my /var/log/maillog every 15 minutes. None of my users
use IMAP so does anyone know why this occurs? Is it a problem I should be
worried about? Can I safely disable IMAP totally?

Jan 16 22:00:02 raqxxx imapd[888]: imap service init from 127.0.0.1
Jan 16 22:00:02 raqxxx imapd[888]: Login failure user=Active_Monitor_69
host=localhost [127.0.0.1]
Jan 16 22:00:05 raqxxx imapd[888]: command stream end of file, while reading
line user=Active_Monitor_69 host=localhost [127.0.0.1]
Jan 16 22:00:06 raqxxx sendmail[890]: NOQUEUE: Null connection from
localhost [127.0.0.1]
Jan 16 22:00:06 raqxxx in.qpopper[889]: EOF from Active_Monitor_69 at
127.0.0.1 (localhost): [0] 2 (No such file or directory); 0 (Success)
Jan 16 22:00:06 raqxxx in.qpopper[889]: Active_Monitor_69 at localhost
(127.0.0.1): -ERR POP EOF or I/O Error: 2 (No such file or directory); 0
(Success)

Well, I hope there are short and simple answers for my rather long winded
questions!
