Subject: [cobalt-users] RaQ2 Help Needed
Hi,
I created a virtual web site and a user account to use
ftp to upload files into this site, for example,
www.test.com, and user name "test".
I am using WS_FTP to upload files. And this is what I
did test:
<<< Snippage>>>
to figure out how to set up more virtual sites.
Now, my questions are:
<<<<<<<<<Snippage>>>>
Please help, and thank you so much.
Shawn Xu
Shawn,
I have a raq2, so I'll try to shed a little light for you.
You asked:
1. It is easy to create a virtual site and user
accounts for this site, but when you upload files into
this site, should I use these user accounts or
administrator account?
Use the user account and password to upload you files.
Point WSFTP at your IP, using the appropriate user and password, and set
your base or starting folder to /web/
The raq will know, based on the user and password where to put them. You do
not have to specify the path /home/sites/www.test.com/users/test/web, and in
fact if you do, you will likely get an error.
2. As I said above, for either user account or
administrator account to upload files, is it right
directory to load files in?
See above. the /web/ folder is the correct one, but use your raq's IP and
the user name to identify the site, and the starting folder of /web/
You won't need to use the admin account unless you need to move files around
out side of the web directories.
3. I don't want users using like
www.test.com/index.htm, just like normal searching web
site like www.test.com, but some sites default
document is index.html, index.htm, default.asp,
main.htm, and so on,how to configure to return the
default page?
The raq uses index.html as the default to look for, and that is the name
that the server names the place holder page, but will find index.htm if no
index.html is present.
index.asp I don't think will work, as the mips processor and linux won't
handle asp, as such.
If you want other names than index.htm, index.html, then you will need to
specify them in one of the conf file I believe more info can be found at
www.apache.org about that setting.
Hope that helps
