Sounds like you might not have a compatible NIC in the PC/laptop you're
booting from the OSRCD. The "Loading Kernel" message means that the
firmware in the RaQ is trying to contact the OSRCD machine for more
instructions. If the message isn't clearing, then it's not finding the
machine. The network activity is from the packets travelling from the
RaQ to the OSRCD machine...

If you press Alt+F8 on the OSRCD machine, you can see the connection
info. That can go a long way toward telling you if a connection is being
made or not, and some other diagnostic info. (Press Alt+F1 to get back
to the "main" OSRCD screen)

The new HD should not matter.

I had real problems getting mine to work. I tried the crossover cable with no success. I then connected through a switch. I found that my card was talking at 10 Mbs instead of 100 Mbs. I had to get the machine with the CD booted first with the switch and it would talk at 100 Mbs. With this done then booting the RaQ and they started talking. It seems that not all machines will start at the max rate or network cards. Once they were both talking at the same speed it all worked smoothly. I had also made a CD with all the updates on it so I had one place to start. Just one problem there, WINDOWS! Windows for some reason made all the file name end with .PKG instead of .pkg. Second windows will not allow burners to write names the same length as the update names are. So were ok, some not.
