Sounds like you might not have a compatible NIC in the PC/laptop you're
booting from the OSRCD. The "Loading Kernel" message means that the
firmware in the RaQ is trying to contact the OSRCD machine for more
instructions. If the message isn't clearing, then it's not finding the
machine. The network activity is from the packets travelling from the
RaQ to the OSRCD machine...
If you press Alt+F8 on the OSRCD machine, you can see the connection
info. That can go a long way toward telling you if a connection is being
made or not, and some other diagnostic info. (Press Alt+F1 to get back
to the "main" OSRCD screen)
The new HD should not matter.
