you've got to edit the config to use advanced authentication, methinks - i
know I had that same problem and, for the life of me, I really should have
written it down =(

I am using a cobalt raq4 server
with mysql 3.32.37 phpMyadmin-2.2.1-rc2-php
My Problem is
I can log on to and mysql use databases from the shell.
I can log as root using phpMyadmin standard AUTH
when I try to use phpMyadmin advanced Auth i get the
following.

Error
SQL-query :
SELECT User, Password, Select_priv FROM mysql.user WHERE User = 'test' AND
Password = PASSWORD('test')
MySQL said:
Access denied for user: '@localhost' to database 'mysql'
--------------
I get the same error if I try to log on as root using advanced Auth
any help apreciated -
