Does that mean you backed up the old install? If you did, that was a good
move. I just replied to someone else yesterday about the same thing.
Upgrading Perl on the Raq is a bad thing unless you don't care about the
GUI. What I've seen ppl do in the past is install a newer version of Perl
into a different location, leaving the Cobalt install intact. This way you
will not bother the GUI and you can run all your own scripts through the
newer version.

Restore the default Perl and try the method I mentioned above.
