That depends on the webmail software in question. I've never seen a
package that can handle unlimited virtual users but working through one
pop account, but I suppose it's possible.

Of course you get what you pay for. For example, in addition to my
Cobalt consulting business, we also sell a mail server for W2k. An
unlimited webmail license (one domain) is $2,600 just for the software.
As I say, you get what you pay for.

We've done these kinds of installations and we CAN set this up for you
on a RaQ, but it wouldn't work inside the gui, and of course it would
cost you money. We'd use open source software as available, but charge
you for the setup and a monthly maintenance fee if you wanted any kind
of assurance that it keeps running. I don't recommend the RaQ if your
users are going to do a lot of email; it's just not made for this kind
of work, and it's not powerful enough to do it fast enough. And who
says you'll only need to service 2000 users? What if you need to
service 10,000? Why not get a machine made to handle it from the first
time?

To everyone who will yell at me for soliciting business on the list:

Go ahead and complain folks, I'm actually writing onlist that I do this
sort of work. The man has been writing this over and over again for
days. Some of the help he's gotten has been significantly less than
helpful. He obviously needs help. So I'm offering <wry grin>. And if
you look through the archives (search for "Jeff Lasman") I think you'll
agree I've paid my dues <smile>.
