RE: [cobalt-users] should I buy into RaQ3

Jim,

I don't normally write stuff to this list, though I do read it all the
time. And I don't want to appear to be flaming or worse:
spamming/advertising! But I'm subscribed to the UK2 mailing list
because up until a few weeks ago it was useful like this one is, for
sorting Raq issues/my stupidity.

They also maintain a brilliant site at http://www.uk2raq.com/ with info
on maintaining a Raq3. Fortunately, most of the stuff also applies to
Raq4, which is what I have with Magic Moments/Host Europe and who I've
found met my expectations on reliability and support and have done since
Jan.

The most important thing about UK2 is the complete lack of primary level
(or any other level!) support - and this is the reason they are so
cheap. That said they're not *that* cheap, esp. when u consider u have
to take out a 3 year contract (something they don't tell you until the
final stage of the order process I discovered), reliability seems poor,
and you have to pay extra for any kind of support ..which isn't provided
by them but by Linuxsure who are a wholly separate entity.

All that aside, the traffic on the UK2 mailing list is definitely worth
a read before you go any further. The website above has links to it.
It's an unofficial list and is uncensored - and recently there's been
some significant criticism levelled at UK2 for various things. View the
list for the full story! Put it this way, I wouldn't go near it - and
that's speaking as someone who very nearly did not too long ago.

Thought I'd chuck my tuppence in for once!

Subject: [cobalt-users] should I buy into RaQ3

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a Cobalt RaQ3 from http://uk2.net/. Is this a
good
idea? Are there any drawbacks from buying into this particular service
apart
from those directly related to running my own server?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim
