As a small business owner trying to grow, I have benefited from doing
business with a contributor to this list. He didn't post an ad for his
services, but contributed to the list and used his sig to indicate his
services. As the META FAQ points out the available places to advertise, IMO,
there is no need to post blatant ads to the list. I'm sure I could have
benefited from buying any of the myriad products I read about in Spam sent
to me, but I don't do business with spammers.

You may see a difference between someone who harvests our addresses from
this list and sends spam, (I know it happens), and someone using
list.cobalt.com to send the ad on their behalf, but I don't.
