Re: [cobalt-users] permission denied during ftp

Here's the bad news...

First, the admin user will only work for the first 32 sites set up on
the RaQ, for the others, the admin user has no rights; you'd either have
to ftp in as siteadmin, or create additional admin users (named
something like admin33-64, admin65-96, etc.) and manually give them
"group" rights over the sites) in order to ftp in.

Second, this wouldn't work anyway, because internally the RaQs work
entirely by site number. So all the "stuff" is being put into the wrong
places <frown>.

The real way to do this is with the migration utility, if it's ever been
fixed to work properly; ask someone who's used it recently, and ask
specifically if it can move data between sites set up on different site
numbers, and also if it can work between two RaQ3s; I've never used it
and don't know.

The best way to do this is manually, exactly what you didn't want to do.

I believe it was Carrie who recently wrote here or elsewhere that he's
gotten really good at manually moving sites <wry grin>.

We can do it <smile>. We'd charge a lot <frown>; RaQ "stuff" is our
business. You can do it yourself of course, the same way we'd do it,
one site at a time.

(Hint: If we weren't local we'd use ftp to put everything into one
temporary directory directory, and move it within the RaQ from there.
We'd painstakingly check and set permissions when we're done. If we
WERE local, we'd put the two drives into the new RaQ (temporarily, and
using a separate power supply for the second drive) and move them that
way. If we could we'd reconfigure the new RaQ and make sure the users
and and sites were properly set up as the same user numbers, site
numbers, and group numbers, first.)
