The default username/password should be SYSDBA/masterkey (I might have the
upper and lower case backards though :)

We use Interbase and really have had no troubles with it once we got up and
running. We use IBExpert (www.ibexpert.com) to create database, tables etc
also to manage users/permissions and with a windows client ODBC driver
called easysoft (www.easysoft.com). Just make sure you Interbase server is
listening on port 5050 from memory if not you will need to make sure it is
starting on init.
