Subject: Backup again!
The backup modules in the GUI on the raq servers are not an good solution
it works nice to backup, but I have never been able to restore again from
that backup sets sucesfully)
My question is, will not the following command take a complete backup that
can be restored if the server crash?
tar -czvf /home/sites/home/users/admin/complete.tar.gz ./
I have now been restoring a Raq4 server and had to manualy add all sites
before I used a stripheader script on the backupset from the GUI to get back
the sites data ( I had 190 sites on the server) It took me 5 days to get
ewryting up running as normal again. If I have had that complete backupfile
from
tar -czvf /home/sites/home/users/admin/complete.tar.gz ./
Could I then had been restoring that to the server with:
tar -xzvf /home/sites/home/users/admin/complete.tar.gz from root and
rebooted the server and ewryting had benn as before this backup?
I have now done 3 restores with Raq servers ( 2 Raq2 and one Raq4 and it is
hell ) I hope I newer have to do this again and need an solution for a good
backup.
