Hello, I can't seem to get the LCD panel controls on my RaQ3i unit to work. I would like to reset the primary IP#, netmask# and gateway# settings, but I can't seem to save these settings and get them to stick. I also cannot reach the unit through the network port, hooked up to my LAN network hub. The only access I have right now is through the serial port on the back and PC terminal emmulation software. Part of my problem may be that DNS may confused on my W2000 Pro machine, as I have a modem and a NIC card installed. I'm not sure how to make sure that the web-browser uses the NIC interface to reach the RaQ unit, rather than the modem when it's not connected.. Any helpful hints would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to avoid a total restore from the restore CD, but the unit may be too hashed at this point. I suspect sabotage... ~ Theo
The serial port appears only to work with a null modem cable connected to the left serial port (when looking at the back). It will apparently only work when you boot the Raq. It will only ask the same questions as the LCD and then ask you to save. It will then reboot and you will only be able to monitor via the serial port.
The Restore CD says the following: 1. An Intel-compatible PC desktop or laptop computer.a) the computer must have an IDE (ATAPI) CD-Rom drive and must be bootable from the CD-Rom drive. b) The computer must have only one of the following network interface cards (NIC):
PCI Cards - Intel PRO/100+ Server Adapter (PILA8470B) - Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Lan Card (LNE100TX) - Netgear Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter (FA312TX) - 3Com OfficeConnect Fast Ethernet NIC (3CSOHO100-TX) - 3Com Fast EtherLink XL PCI NIC (3C905BTX) PCMCIA Cards - Netgear Fast Ethernet PCMCIA Adapter (FA410TX) - 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN PC Card (3CCFE574BT) - Xircom CreditCard Ethernet 10/100 (CE3B-100BTX)2. One 100BaseT ethernet hub and two standard Category 5 cables, or one Category 5 crossover cable.
I used a pc with the Linksys card in it. I used the crossover cable. I spent an hour trying here with no success. The Linksys card seem to work at 10BaseT instead of 100BaseT and the Raq would not connect with it. I then got 2 standard Cat 5 cables and a small switch I had. I had to have the pc connect first so it would connect at 100BaseT and then I turned on the Raq and followed the install instructions on the pc. Once installed I used the null modem to configure the Raq. Only about 5 questions and on to the web interface after the reboot. I had hoped to be able to used the terminal connection to do more work.
