I'm resending this because my original message has not made it to the list
yet, and this issue is rather urgent. I have customers asking me where are
their logs.
Original message:
------------------------------------------
A few days ago, the log /var/log/httpd/access stopped rotating, and I kept
on getting messages every day to the admin account:
errors occurred while rotating /var/log/httpd/access
error running prerotate script --
leaving old log in place
A search of the list archives told me this was due to some corruption in the
access log file.
Now, probably the easiest way to do this, from the archives, is to just stop
httpd, delete the access file, create a blank access file, and restart
httpd.
However, I have several days' worth of logs in the existing access file. How
can I salvage these logs and get the log to rotate?
Thanks,
Paul
