RE: [cobalt-users] Stop the BS!!

I follow the list but do not contribute much. My humble opinion is that no
one died and made Dan or anyone else the moderator of this list. Frankly, I
think the list would be better without him because he causes more bad
feelings than any one else on the list.

I do talk to Cobalt support on a regular basis for issues that are behond
the knowledge of the list and they take a very dim view of the advice that
is generally found on the list. Most of the more complex issues can be
solved with one simple call to Cobalt support. I wrote Dan off-list to help
me resove a perl issue (thinking that he actually knew his stuff). After
many emails, I came to the conclusion that he didn't have a clue. One call
to Cobalt solved my problem.

I have disagreed with Dan on numerous occaisions as I think the list should
not only give basic newbie help but should also be a resource for software
and hardware that is available. Moreover, the list should be fun instead of
being like a nazi summer camp with Dan as Colonel Klink.

The long and short of it is that the list takes itself way too seriously
with these rules that Dan has determined are the way to run this list. I
been a certified SCO Unix guy since 1986. Some of the advice I read on this
list astounds me. Moreover, If we can't have some fun on this list without
Dan descending on the "offender" and half the list defending Dan and half
slamming him then I think Dan needs to move on. Maybe he should run a camp
for juvenile offenders but he is certainly not the owner, boss, maven, or
moderator of this list.

Now, I know some people think any attention, even negative attention, is a
good thing. Since Dan seems to relish in the criticism that he recieves, I
think the best thing to do is just ignore his posts and maybe he will go away.

(Just my humble opinion)!

Jay
