Ammended
I'm a Newbie too! I did find out how to view a few files.
There are more ways than I use, but I like these:
1) Tail command - View end of Mail log in real time. It lets you see the end of
the file as things are added.
For example: Type "tail -f maillog" and Ctrl C quits out of program
2) I like to use the pico editor because it allows me to search easily. Just
remember that if you do not want to save any changes that you must type N to not
save changes. Ctrl X exits.
For example: pico maillog
3) cat filename
This prints the files to the screen without stopping.
4) more filename
Hit space bar to see page by page. 'q' quits.
For more information on these commands use 'man' and the command name
For example: 'man more' will list usage of the 'more' command.
'q' quits manual.
I hope this helps.
