I'm a Newbie too! I did find out how to view a few files.
There are more ways than I use, but I like these:
1) Tail command - View end of Mail log in real time. It lets you see the end of
the file as things are added.
For example: Type "tail -f maillog" and Ctrl C quits out of program
2) I like to use the pico editor because it allows me to search easily. Just
remember that if you do not want to save any changes that you must type N to not
save changes. Ctrl X exits.
For example: pico maillog
