I guess what I'm asking is: If a user has a POP mail client and someone
sends mail using an IMAP client.. will that user still get the IMAP email
when they check their mail, using thier POP access? Server still sends and
I'm, seemingly, getting all of my mail using Eudora (very old, reliable
version of Eudora pro) I just want to make sure I do not block out people
sending mail to the server who are using IMAP clients..

I don't know if IMAP can send mail (never heard of such a thing, though) but it *is* a protocol for checking your mail. Here's what happens:

1. Someone sends mail to your server through the Internet. That mail uses SMTP and is received by sendmail on port 25.

2. Sendmail hands it off to procmail, which puts it into your mailbox.

3. (optional) Procmail processes that mail using any rules you may have configured.

4. Now you check your mail.
   a. POP3 simply downloads all your mail to the client;
      only option is to leave a copy of mail on server.
   b. IMAP lets you download headers only or all messages;
      you can work with mail in your mailbox without having
      to download it; and you can organize mail into folders.
      Webmail clients like IMP usually use IMAP.

You can enable either POP3 or IMAP, or both. Not having one running is only a problem if someone wants to use it; neither one is "essential."
