Re: [cobalt-users] Reverse Lookup

One thing that sucks about reverse DNS is that many ISPs (especially if you're using DSL) will NOT delegate reverse DNS to you. I battled with XO (and their hostmaster, who was a complete jerk) and they never did get it right.

Reason #54254 that I'm dropping them and getting a real T1 for my other business. =/

An old thread, but important! If you are going to do something, do it right!
Please set up your nameserver such that reverse lookups work.
go to http://www.his.com/cgi-bin/nslookup and type in your IP addresses,
hit return and view the results. If you get an error FIX_IT!

It has come to my attention that many ISP's on the internet are taking
reverse lookups a little more seriously. There is a movement towards
doing reverse lookups on everything and on email in particular,
many ISP's will deny access if reverse lookup fails. So, besides being a
good Internet citizen, reverse lookups that fail may very well f**k up your
clients, then it does become a big deal!
