Along those lines, what logs in /var/log can be safely edited down to 0
bytes?  I understand that if they are deleted, you may have to restart
logging.

I believe you could also delete some(all) of the tared logs if need be.

Just a thought, and someone who knows more/better can confirm/deny this.
