Next time i would also run netstat and see if a a large number of
connections were recently made, or none at all...might help isolate if it
was because someone atatcked it, it it just got sick and died...
http server access/error logs should also be usefull, were there any hits
in the previous , say half hour? and really weird page request URL's?
keep in mind that apache will try to protect the server if it gets
overloaded or attacked, and it will back off serving pages, sometimes
quite a lot....however it should normally recover in a few minutes at
most..
