Hi list,
I've got a slightly odd problem with a couple of RaQ3s: in the last two
days, two servers have developed an identical problem: for no apparent
reason, port 80 shuts, and no web pages are served out. However, the http
daemon doesn't stop - when I do a "top" there are still httpd entries (one
owned by root, and the rest by httpd). I have tried stopping and starting
the webserver, and also stopping and starting inetd, but it has no effect -
pages are still not served up. At first I just thought that the servers were
struggling with a heavy load, but they both responded quite speediily in
telnet and neither CPU nor RAM where being excessively used. In the end,
the only thing that I could think of doing was a reboot - which worked
perfectly. Howeve, I'm still none the wiser about the actual cause - or how
to overcome it in the future (rebooting isn't exactly idea).
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
Dave Rowlands
