I agree completely with your statements, however, I find it hard to
believe that DTI has 16k physical servers.. I could believe maybe 16k
domains, etc.. but not 16,000 servers. Digital Nation(now owned by
Verio), which makes any of us, including Dialtone look tiny in comparison
does not even have that many. Its amazing to me the amount of
exaggeration that takes place in this industry.. I have seen everything
from a 56k line that is a DS3, to Frac T1's being called OC48's... Last
I heard the number was 600 (about 3 months ago), then 300 (about 6 months
ago).. I really do not care, because I would be willing to bet it is more
than us, however 16,000.. I would have to see this to believe it. Maybe
it is a typo?

Now as far as the IP's.. I can see where there would be a problem. We
recently had a Power Supply blow on one of our customer aggregation
routers. We were easily able to seemlessly re-route everything via
another router which holds our entire routing tables and customer routing
tables in the event of problems like this.. However, some tables were not
up to date in one instance, and caused a few routes here and there, to
just disappear... The customer who had this problem alerted us about 5
minutes after we sent out our emergency message alerting our colo
customers of the power supply failure. It was a simple fix to manually
add the missing routes. We did not charge for this, of course.. It is
part of the service, and it was our equipment that blew. However, if you
want us to install RAM in your box, or restore your RaQ Software, we do
charge.
