I seem to recall reading that this has something to do with delegating DNS
to a remote machine somewhere. Not sure.
On another note, in all this playing around today, I discovered something
else interesting. Kinda goes back to another thread where people were
looking for a way to redirect one domain to another without actually
creating a site.
I setup *testing.oakrose.com* in DNS (one new A record) with the IP I used
for *www.demo.quintescents.net* , and then went to site admin for
*www.demo.quintescents.net* and added *testing.oakrose.com* under the web
server aliases.
Following the link http://testing.oakrose.com redirects you right over to
www.demo.quintescents.net without a hitch.
This should work just as well with *domain.com* or *www.domain.com* without
needing to actually create a site for them as long as they are registered
and have the correct name servers listed with the registrar, right?
Seems like it might save a lot of trouble delving into config files etc. via
telnet if this works like this thru the GUI.
