There is another thread discussing changing Proftpd.conf which would
probably do what you want. However being a newbie myself, I am just
changing the initial directory - this will take you to the top level of the
virtual site. I use this for Dreamweaver, Ultraedit and WS_FTP and it works
fine. Eg for Dreamweaver:
HTTP Address www.sitename.co.uk
Web Server Info: FTP Host - www.sitename.co.uk
Host Directory: ../../ [this is probably the only bit you're missing]
The username and password can be those of the site administrator.
