[cobalt-users] Is There A Real Difference w/ The RAQ4??

My guess is Cobalt is trying to prevent the OS Restore for the RAQ4 to be
readily available. The reason being is that the OS for the RAQ4 is the real
value of the RAQ4.

The differences from what I see between the RAQ3 and the RAQ4 are
negligible.

The RAQ3 uses an AMD K6-2 300 mhz and the RAQ4 uses an AMD K6-2 450 mhz
processor. I am curious to know if anyone has looked inside to compare the
motherboards and the real guts of these machines to determine if they just
stuck in a new chip in the RAQ3, then installed new software, then labeled
it the RAQ4, and then raised the price $1,000.00.

If anyone has, I would be really interested to know.

Otherwise, I would just pick up the RAQ3, change the processor ($50 to $80
AMD K6-2 500mhz) which I believe is the fastest processor the RAQ3 can
handle, add memory ($100 or less for 128mb) and a larger harddrive ($200 to
$250 for 30gb).

Considering the RAQ3 starts at $1,080.00 - I could save $1,000+ and have a
system that worked better than the RAQ4. Thats why I think they are not
letting anyone have the OS restore!!

What does everyone think? To me I just do not see the value in the RAQ4
when they charge $2,000+ for a server which uses a $50 AMD K6-2 chip which
is one step from going into retirement!
