I find that the Raq3 hardware at UK2.NET works fine, but that their lack
of technical support is absolutely appalling.

But then support never has been their forte. ^_^

For example - my machine came pre-misconfigured dns-wise, (to save me
time screwing it up myself I would imagine)

Unlikely it's deliberate, no one has posted to the UK2RaQ mailing list with the same problem.

What exactly is the problem?

 and I've had to resort to
using external dns management due to not even having been given the
phone number or email address of a guy who can re-boot my machine.

help@xxxxxxx might help.

Alternatively subscribe to the UK2net specific list from http://www.uk2raq.com and post there. There are a couple of UK2net employees that read and post to the list occasionally.

 I've
been with them for 6 weeks now and STILL can't find a technical contact
there. Also, I realise with hindsight, that the fact that you only find
out you have to pay for three years up-front once you're into their
sign-up rutine should have been a pointer as to what the service might
be like.

On the whole i'm quite happy with mine. I've had a few problems with it (can't seem to upgrade Webalizer), but other than that everything is fine. Haven't had any major problems with it yet, and if i do I'd turn to the list instead of tech support for quick help.
