I use Windows ME and a Qube2 with Samba
There is a bug in one of the scripts
I posted this a while ago.....
I finally got a hold of Cobalt on my SMB problem
There is a bug in the new Linux Kernel
If you have Qube2-en-OSUpdate Release 3.0
you need to telnet into the cube and edit the smb.conf
there is a line called oplocks = yes change it to "no"
This is not for the faint at heart.....(grin)
use pico and this file is in the /etc directory
This will fix the SMB problem in the Cube 2
Hope this helps....
Also Cobalt has a security problem with the Qube2
They forgot to shadow the password file.
To check this out, go in as admin either in
ftp which is easier or telnet into the Qube and
look at the passwd file.... I could say OOPS
if I was a Cobalt tech (they did!!!)
More info on shadow passwords at
www.bagpipes.net/security
If your cube is used for users, do not allow
cgi scripting for the end user and do not allow
Telnet either.... until this problem is fixed.
Be sure your ftp does not allow the end user
to look around other than his/her home directory
otherwise just pray until Cobalt fix this problem.
