Re: [cobalt-users] RaQ BaQ

FAO Avi but I think the list at large should consider this:

It is with sadness that I read the demise of your willingness to allow
RaQBaQ to be distributed under a free software license.
You have to be prepared to receive plenty of email from this list,
whether supportive, indifferent or downright rude since a large number
of the subscribers want software that WORKS, NOW.

Folks: if you have sent criticisms to Avi, whether founded or not,
consider this: would *you* be willing to put in the time, energy and
persistence to begin to create something like he has?

Would you be willing to receive a bunch of emails telling you that your
software is rubbish?

Probably not, on both counts.

Think about this: Apache is free. BIND (your DNS software) is free.
ProFTP is free. All have, or have had bugs at some point. They probably
all still have as yet to be discovered bugs, gotchas and problems. We
will still use them.

The important thing to grasp here is not to criticise the authors of
said software, but to support them by either pointing the bugs out or
*even better* fixing them first, then telling.

Avi: don't be disheartened. If you go closed, you'll never develop the
code as much as you want.
List: be supportive. If it breaks, fix it - or at least be prepared to
help Avi do so.

Just my 2p / 3.20cents :)
