Did not see this one answered os here goes my attempt:
proftpd.conf > LsDefaultOptions "-a"
then restarted the server
I placed this in the virtual host tags
This didn't solve the problem with most FTP software which dominate the
market.
It solved the problem instantly on my MAc based FTP.
"." files are not visible on any Mac-based FTP client, or on the PC
versions recommended here for this purpose (ie., Flashexp). All of which
are designed to view "." files.
I use interarchy or anachie and I can now see my "." files with no
problem. Hope this helps someone.
