[cobalt-users] re: RaQ4 proftpd.conf > LsDefaultOptions "-a"

Stew--

proftpd.conf > LsDefaultOptions "-a"
then restarted the server

This didn't solve the problem with most FTP software which dominate the
market.

"." files are not visible on any Mac-based FTP client, or on the PC
versions recommended here for this purpose (ie., Flashexp). All of which
are designed to view "." files.

To be honest, I'm not so concerned about .htaccess files because I can
install a script (theoretically) to manage that, but it's disturbing to
not be able to view all the files for certain scripts I run which write
".thisandthat" filenames.

Changing the connect option in WS_FTP Pro does seem to work, but ... the
majority of popular FTP software doesn't support similar masks.

I'm completely willing to assume that everybody running
Sun/Solaris/Apache and Linux/Apache hosting for their clients (not on
the RaQ) has turned this on in some way for their customer support, but
there must be a solution to get the same functionality for hosting
clients on the RaQ. I suppose "everybody" else is crazy and doesn't
believe in security... but...unlikely.

This product is billed as a hosting solution... well, I'm trying to do
that. Help!

Additional helpful suggestions would be most appreciated by anybody.

Christopher

I've basically got about 20 days to get this RaQ to work (30 day trial
on hardware lease), or dump it and try a different platform. Between
this problem and the cgi-script writing problems with ssi I'm having
(still waiting on Cobalt tech support reply on that one), I'm getting
mightily discouraged. :(
