Huh?
Normally, you create an A record for mail.domain.com with an IP address and
then you can create an MX record using mail.domain.com. I've never seen in a
DNS lookup an IP address for an MX record.
One of the list members who actually as read DNS and Bind can probably shed
some more light on this.
