We have a customer on a RAQ3 who is having the following problem with email
attachments:
The scenario:
1. Sender sends e-mail (using MS Outlook), with an attached Excel
spreadsheet (sender selects the "attach as a file" option), to a "list" of
recipients (usually 10 or more).
2. Sender does not receive any error messages.
3. Recipient gets the e-mail message, showing the attachment (visually it
looks fine).
4. Recipient is unable to open the Excel attachment, usually with the
following message "xxxxxxx.xls can not be accessed. The file may be read
only or the server that the document is stored on, may not be responding".
5. Recipient can save the attached file to their hard drive, then open it in
Excel, but STILL gets the same error message.
6. Sender can go to their "sent" folder, see and open the attachment just
fine.
7. If sender resends the message, all is usually OK.
8. These are intermittent conditions that do not happen every day.
Has anyone else run into this problem and was/is there a way to resolve it?
