Well, any business that has profitability as a goal has to make its money
somewhere. uk2.net charges a very low prepaid hosting fee. At £29 a month for
a dedicated server one has to wonder how they can turn a profit. If they didn't
charge the DNS Management fees and whatever other fees they charge they'd have
to raise their monthly rate. I know nothing about the level and quality of
service they provide, but I do know they have to charge several magnitudes
higher than £29 a month for dedicated hosting to turn a profit or they have to
generate revenue from other fees or other revenue streams (support, development,
etc.). You can look at the two companies they compare themselves to and see
that something's not right (see http://powerraq.com/compare.htm). Those other
two companies are charging pretty reasonable rates and they're charging 7-9
times what uk2.net is charging! Nothing in life is free, you get what you pay
for and everyone's trying to make a profit.
