If POP before SMTP works via Earthlink, then it works.
Or he could try using a server that's already an open relay.
I got spam via (dell1.alibaba.com) 209.143.239.129 which is a Hong Kong open
relay that the owner doesn't appear interested in closing. If the mail goes
through, then the ISP allows Port 25 traffic.
I just sent myself a test via that relay and it worked, so it's still wide
open. Tell your friends. ;-)
