That is partially true.  Yet most co-location providers that I am aware of
do their metering at the switch.  Thing is that a switch that has the
taglines 'simple & affordable' often doesn't have the tagline 'reliable'.
If you want reliable, go with the 2924XL.  Probably the most reliable switch
you can get for less than $2000.

This is the point to keep in mind.  What is the likelyhood that the
originator of this thread is going to be willing to put in a full-featured
firewall and monitoring package?  Not very.
