This is true in English, and in many other languges, as far as it goes.
But, for example, in German every noun begins with a capital letter.

And in Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and many other
languages, there's no such thing as a capital letter.

Spell checkers (especially Microsoft's <wry grin>) cannot always be
depended upon.

I think we should ignore spelling, and try to understand the language
and the question or reply.

I don't think we should expect that anyone should have a perfect command
of English (or even any command at all) to get a reply.

While it's true that our posts are archived, mailing lists are,
nevertheless, immediate and spontaneous media, and frankly, I don't see
much value in spelling, grammar and sentence structure if in putting
emphasis on them we lose the spontaneity and immediacy of the list.
