I agree wholeheartedly. I think there is a pressing need for generic IT
certifications or professional qualifications which take experience into
account. Doctors, engineers and lawyers all have to join professional
organisations in order to practice within their profession. I think there
should be similar professional organisations within the I.T. industry.
Joining should not necessarily be a legal requirement but should certainly
be encouraged. The UK has the British Computer Society
(http://www.bcs.org.uk/), the US and other countries must have similar
bodies.

Not entirely. I think the cobalt stuff is ideal for the SOHO market where
there may be limited I.T. experience but *people should NOT be SELLING a
service to others when they are entirely ignorant of the systems that they
are basing that service on*.
