so, perhaps it wasn't so simple after all (or perhaps it's me who is too
simple). i added the above line to the rc.local file, but on reboot the
program did not start (although issuing the exact same command from the
telnet command line worked like a charm. what did i do wrong? and what
do i need to do to get my program to start automatically when i reboot
the server? do i need to add the line to a different file in the rc.d
directory? or should i perhaps put it in the middle of the rc.local
file, rather than at the end (which would be after the final if-then
statement that adds the hostname and ip address to the lcd display)?
any help is appreciated.
