   I suffered the same problem with a $149 spare-in-the-air Qube2 while
setting it up.  Cobalt led me by the hand to edit the smb.conf file so I
could regain control of my groups, but the box crashed hard right there
during the tech's telnet session.  (sigh)  I may wind up spending *another*
$100 for the OS restore CD so my business can keep running.

   Did you try to restore files from a .QUB backup after installing the 3.0
update?  My Qube2 crashes hard, forcing a powerdown to get it back up again.
I still can't restore critical business files to my replacement Qube2...  I
desperately need to find an alternate method to pull files out of the .QUB
format.  I've had zero access to them for two solid weeks now.
