I don't have POP before SMTP set up on my server, so take what I say with a
grain of salt......

I know this thread has bounced back and forth about how to "trick" Outlook
Express and Outlook into popping before sending email. And then it
progressed from there.....

I use both of these products and I have not seen this behaviour on either of
them. I have accounts on other servers that require me to POP before SMTP
and it works fine. No tricks. No settings changes. No fake accounts. Maybe
the older versions didn't do it, but Outlook Express 5 and Outlook 2000 both
seem to work quite well for this. You might suggest an upgrade to your
customers if all else fails?
