When we have occasional users who travel outside our service area, we just
tell them that they have to use the ISP's smtp server that they are actually
dialing into. When we have temporary customers who are in our area who have
email accounts with other ISP's elsewhere, we tell them that they must use
our smtp server while they are dialing into one of our POPs. This policy
has worked for over two years now with no problems, and we have never had to
make any of our smtp servers an open relay.
